It might take awhile to find it, but underneath it all you share some common ground. Keep this in mind next time your relationship hits a speed bump or your partner is driving you crazy. Each of us uses Yang energy for some tasks and Yin energy for others. The energetic interplay of Yin and Yang is a continuous ebb and flow. This is an important part of your bond, but even this changes with time and circumstance. Standing up for yourself and stating what you need in the relationship from your partner is a Yang action. There will be times in any relationship when this means that to be receptive (Yin) you put aside your own expectations and remain generous and loving to your partner’s needs. When someone really listens to you, that person is being Yin because he or she is receiving and yielding to your words. Listening is one of the strongest Yin characteristics. The yang partner offers yang energy in exchange for yin, and the yin partner receives yang and gives back yin energy. Yang attributes are male energy, hardness, being assertive, buoyancy, heat, thinking, and attack. Yin qualities are female energy, softness, being passive, heaviness, coolness, feeling, and surrender. It’s not about politics or anatomy, it’s all about energy. It is similar for same sex partners as it for heterosexual couples. But actually both are Yin and both are Yang. I stumbled upon one of Jordan Peterson’s talks on YouTube, Who Dares Say He Believes in God. With people, the woman is typically Yin compared to her male partner, who is more Yang. In Ancient Chinese philosophy, yin and yang is the idea of dualism, that seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world. We can take this example and apply it to our relationships. And are relative to each other depending on the surroundings. They are complementary rather than opposing. Possessing a bit of their counterpart makes these two forces interconnected and flexible. Notice how the black swirl has a small circle of white in it and vice versa? However, Yin and Yang are not 100% opposites as each carries within itself a small portion of the other. Yin and Yang are often used to describe opposites like black and white, north and south, sun and moon, male and female…you get the idea. Usually they are related to something in East Asian culture. With the name Chemeia taken to Kim-Iya, the last word would take Ouroboros to Yin-Yang.The terms Yin and Yang (pronounced yong, as in ‘gong’) may sound familiar. Ouroboros is normally depicted with its anterior half as black but it should be the reverse as shown here. Ouroboros here is depicted white and black, as soul and body, the two as "one which is all." It is cosmic soul, the source of all creation. Its head and anterior portion is red, being the colour of blood as soul its tail and posterior half is dark, representing body.
It is a snake and as such as symbol of soul. Since Chinese alchemy did reach Alexandria probably the symbol Yin-Yang, as dual-natured, responsible for creation, was transformed into a symbol called Ouroboros. Yin-Yang was treated separately in Chinese cosmology which consisted of five cosmic elements. The two opposites were yin-yang and their unity was called Chhi. The two opposites were further conceived as matter and energy which became dual-natured but as one. Correspondingly, the Chinese believed Light and Darkness, as the ideal opposites, when united, yielded creative energy. Now reproduction results in the union of two opposites as male and female. For creation of the universe they projected reproduction to conceive creation. Each opposite was assumed to be powerful and so was their final unity. These, two as one, gave the idea of opposites but forming a unity. The universe was early divided into Earth below and Heaven above.
